Review of Sky ISP:
The reason why Sky Broadband remains as one of the preferred ISPs these days is the fact that their broadband range is still good and it is easy to package the broadband connection with home phone and well known satellite TV and Movie services.
The lowest plan that Sky Broadband offers costs £7.50 per month if this is bundled with the Sky TV. With this plan, you can already enjoy Sky Broadband Unlimited package which comes with 20 Mbps speed. The only catch with this plan is that you would need to use the Sky Talk Freetime service for phone calls. This may be considered as a small issue especially because you can use the free evening and weekend UK landline calls.
Before you even get too eager to grab a plan from Sky Broadband, you need to understand that the line rental costs an additional £12.25 per month and upgrading the anytime calls will also add up to the monthly fees. If you would like to get cheaper rates, watch out for the offers from Sky Broadband. The bundle plans are easier on the pocket. Aside from that, if you are already an existing user of Sky TV, the broadband costs would be much lower.
Sky have recently been upgrading current customer with a new wireless router from Sagem. The Sagemcom 2504N router (150Mbps speed and Wireless N Compatible) is capable of sharing the internet signal to four wired devices via the four Ethernet ports located at the rear. This router is also capable of sharing the internet signal to various wireless devices (Apple iPhones, iPads, smartphones and notebooks).
A new service from Sky has just been released called Sky Fibre Unlimited, this is the ultimate in broadband packages. For just £20 per month you can get up to 40Mbps broadband (FTTC), free wireless router, unlimited usage, free wifi hotspots, 24/7 technical support and benefit from Sky TV and Sky Go at no extra cost. You will have to check if Sky Fibre is available in your area as at the moment the Openreach Fibre optic broadband network covers 30% of homes in the UK.
Benefits of Sky Broadband:
e Pocket-friendly for Sky TV users through plan bundling.
e Decent internet speed for its low price
e Sky new Fibre service will be great for the Sky Go service of watching and streaming Sky TV shows on smart wireless devices (Apple iPhone, iPad3) in a Wifi area.
Disadvantages of Sky Broadband:
e For areas that are outside Sky's unbundled network coverage, the more expensive Sky Broadband connect is the only one that is available. It costs £17 per month and has 40GB usage allowance. This works much slower though.
e The superfast broadband package (40Mbps Fibre Optic) is only available to 30% of UK homes.
Recommendations for Sky Broadband:
e The Sky Broadband website is pretty dull and heavily text driven, maybe some shiny icons and more friendly colours would help it be more attractive to new customers. Also, the terms and conditions are very complicated and can put some users off.
